Over the years they have won numerous awards of innovation and quality. Lillies instantly add a layer of tropical elegance to a garden. They have a distinct sweet fragrance which makes them popular in fresh-cut flower arrangements. Lillies are sun worshippers and will fail to thrive if grown in overly shaded areas. They need a rich fertile enriched soil that is free draining. Lilly bulbs like to be planted deeply, approximately three times their own height below the surface. If you choose to cluster plant, it is recommended to dig a single large wide area and position the bulbs at least 15cm apart. Lillies will thrive in both ground planting and containers once the container is at least 25cm deep. Bulbs can be planted more tightly together in a container in order to grow into a thick dense display. Lillies have a large flowering head and often become top heavy. In windy areas it is advisable to improve stability of your plant by staking them to prevent heads snapping off. Lillies use a lot of energy and nutrients producing the impressive flowers so will require regular feeding with high potassium plant food or tomato food at least every two weeks. Continue feeding after flowering to help bulbs grow nice and strong for use next year. Deadhead your Lilly on a regular basis to avoid energy being used on seed production instead of flower production. These bulbs will produce small to medium Lilly plants with flowers in stunning bright vivid colours. They instantly add a blast of exciting interesting beauty to any garden, household and balcony. They will grow to a very manageable 50cm height and flower from July onwards.
