Taylors are a fourth-generation family bulb producer dating back nearly 100 years. They are the official bulb supplier for the royal gardens and were awarded The Royal Warrant in 1985. Over the years they have won numerous awards of innovation and quality.
Begonias are extremely popular with both novice and experienced gardeners as they are easy to grow. Full of colour and texture and with such a wide variety to choose from, there is definitely a begonia to suit every type of home and garden. Bulbs can be planted from February to June, as long as there is no risk of frost. They can be started indoors for up to 8 weeks before being transplanted outdoors. Outdoors, bulbs should be planted approximately 1.5 inches below the surface in well-drained garden soil. They can be planted directly to flower beds or pots and planters with a diameter of at least 8in.
Begonias will bloom between 12 and 20 weeks after planting depending on conditions. Soil temperatures will have the greatest influence over time of bloom. They like a moist damp soil, but its important not to saturate the soil as this can cause rotting of the roots. They do best with indirect sunlight if temperatures are warm enough. In cooler summers, they can tolerate being planted in areas of higher sun exposure to compensate for cooler conditions. After flowering is completed, allow leaves to yellow and the soil to dry out naturally. If in the ground bulbs should be carefully lifte, dried and stored. If in pots, move the pots to a cool dry dark environment and store until the next year.
