Scots Pine is a native, evergreen, coniferous tree, which can grow to heights of 30 metres tall. It features blue/green needles and thick, scaly dark grey/brown bark. Scots Pine can be planted in poorer soils, but prefer well-drained, acidic soil. It can tolerate exposure and should be positioned in full sun. Scots Pine trees qualify for the GLAS Scheme. Under the GLAS Scheme up to 450 native trees can be planted and will qualify for a payment of €0.90 per plant per year for 5 years.
